The Door County Senior Resource Center brimmed with activity on Friday, Valentine’s Day, thanks to the efforts of schoolchildren and other community members.
Young people from Sunrise and St. John Bosco schools who have gotten involved through the national group dosomething.org made and delivered love letters to senior citizens to be delivered with their Meals on Wheels lunches, said Judy Dobbins, director of the senior center.
Econo Foods donated cookies for the center and the home deliveries, and Walmart of Sturgeon Bay also contributed to the meals, Dobbins said.
Tina Wagner and a 4-H group donated tulips and daffodils; Karen Johnson knitted 40 scarves; and a teen club also baked cookies, she said.
“It was such a community effort,” Dobbins said.
