More than 3,000 public-sector retirees returned to work for a public employer while drawing a pension from the Wisconsin Retirement System last year, the first year the state tracked such movement.

Randy Fredrikson's salary and benefits totaled nearly $170,000 last year as district administrator of the Two Rivers Public School District, but he's taken a bit of a pay cut this year.
