  1. Staying busy this winter

    I visited the Egg Harbor website, eggharbor doorcounty.org, to find what is coming up on the calendar. An artisan cheese and sparkling wine event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schoolhouse Artisan Cheese in Egg Harbor.

  2. Seeing signs of an early spring

    It is so nice to have this mild weather. I do feel worried about the farms and orchards and our tourist industry, however. On an interesting note, the sandhill cranes have arrived in Nebraska at the Platte River on their migration — they are a month early this year. I hope this means an early spring without a later frost.

    Peninsula Players will present a reading of Rebecca Gilman's stage adaptation of Carson McCullers' "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" at 7 p.m. Monday at Björklunden.

  4. Egg Harbor column: Local author pens mystery book

    I have been reading a good mystery, "Starting Over." I was delighted to find that it is written by local Bob McCurdy of Baileys Harbor and more so when I read the inside page and found that Jeanne Whildin of Jacksonport had done the cover illustration and editing.
