  1. New residents invited to register now

    New residents who have not yet registered to vote might want to check in with the municipal clerk now and taking care of registering before election day. Although Wisconsin does allow election-day registration, with the new photo ID and residency requirements, registering in the clerk's office beforehand can save some time and be less hectic than waiting until April 3.

    The public is invited to learn about logging in Door County during the mid to late 1800s in a presentation sponsored by the Sevastopol Historical Society at 1 p.m. Feb. 19 in the community room at the Sevastopol Town Hall in Institute. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.

  3. Open enrollment season begins

    Parents can apply for open enrollment beginning Monday. Wisconsin's inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live.

    Sevastopol will not have a February election, but it is not too early to be reminded about several items so voters can be prepared when coming to the polls on April 3 and every election thereafter.

  5. Sevastopol column: Enjoy outdoors with candlelight ski

    Cross-country skiers are invited to join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes State Park for the annual candlelight ski the evening of Jan. 28. More than two miles of groomed trails will be lit by twinkling luminaries. End your excursion in the shelter by the warming fire and enjoy hot beverages and popcorn.
